Global warming. We’ve all heard of it and no doubt we are all paying through the nose to help our respective governments ‘prevent’ it. Some of us are even blind enough to actually want to spend money ’saving the planet’. Billions are being made from it. There are some who are rubbing their hands together in glee as their bank balance climbs into the stratosphere.
I fully support the idea of saving the planet, but Iv a feeling that the current trend toward reducing our carbon footprints is just a pie in the sky. Or a few billion in the bank. I think that in our frantic rush to ‘Do our bit’, we might have actually lost sight of what (Or who) we are supposed to be saving the planet from.
Consider: The planet is a HUGE system. Mind bogglingly so. Irrespective of WHY the planet is heating up, are we really so puffed with our own self importance that we believe that humans can actually prevent it from continuing? As far as I can see its like a colony of ants trying to build a barrier to prevent an avalanche that has already started.
So wouldn’t it be better if our governments were working out ways to make sure we can actually survive the changes that are taking place, rather than just pocketing lots of cash conning us into believing that we are in some way slowing down the process?
